Supergran celebrates 85th birthday with 126 of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Beryl has 10 children, 48 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren – with another on the way.
The supergran invited them to her 85th birthday party and 126 attended – with 89 of them joining her for this picture.
Retired cleaner Beryl has 136 living descendants over four generations. She knows all their names and gives them £5 each at birthdays and Christmas.
It means the widow sends a birthday card on average once every three days and forks out more than £1,500 a year on presents and postage.
Beryl, who had 13 children but three of them have died, said yesterday: “I am delighted to be the head of such a large family. And most of them look like me.
“It is amazing to think what me and my husband started all those years ago. I’ve got good children and they look after me. They have made me so happy and I love them all.
“We have some laughs. I have had a happy life and don’t want for anything. It was lovely to get everyone together for the first time – we are one big happy family.”
Beryl’s home in Splott, Cardiff, is plastered with photos of her family. Her oldest grandchild, Leanna, is 40 – the same age as Beryl’s youngest son, Kevin. Youngest great-great-granddaughter Shea Curtis is four days old.
Most of Beryl’s giant family live nearby and regularly pop in for a chat.
Granddaughter Jodie Cordina, 30, said: “My gran is famous in the area.”
She added: “It took some organising to get almost every family member together. But it was worth it to see Gran’s smile.”
