Hello and Welcome

Been there – done that! Maybe? But have you written about it yet? Now’s your chance to record your adventure before it’s too late. The Intrepid Optimist webpage is for you, men and women who’ve lived and enjoyed a full and exciting life and are still pursuing your dreams.

 The idea came to me that when I realized that, on reaching the hypothetical retirement age, that quitting was the last thing that I was going to do. I have lived a pretty full and adventurous life, receiving an informal education at that famous establishment, the School for Hard Knocks.

How many of you over fifties wish you could put that special story or great adventure on paper before it’s too late? Well you can now and here’s the place to do just that.

Oscar Wilde wrote that, “Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes.” We prefer to believe Thomas Mann who said “We come out of the dark and go into the dark again, and in between lie the experiences of our life.” It’s these experiences we would love to hear about.

If you served in your country’s armed services or in the diplomatic corps, you must have experienced incidents or lived adventures you’d like to pass on. How many of you worked for your own, or even someone else’s government? There’s some great adventure stories still to be told which took place during your professional careers or in your private lives and it’s not just your kin that want to hear them.

However, it is not only your adventures we would like to read about: maybe you have a hotel, restaurant, bar, monastery, barrack, jail, safe house or even a book you want to tell us about. Do not put it off, put it on paper. Share your experiences with our readers. We would love to hear about them.
